Hastings Family Service COVID-19 Response

Hastings Family Service is committed to providing essential services during the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic.  In accordance with CDC and state recommendations, the HFS building is closed to the public and modifications have been made to ensure safe social distancing for our neighbors, volunteers, and staff.  These modifications will remain in effect until further notice.

  • Over the Phone/Online Financial Assistance

    Call 651-437-7134 for an appointment.

  • Meals on Wheels Delivery

Delivery continues with modifications to ensure recipient and volunteer safety. Call 651-404-1548 for more information.

  • Just Friends Transportation

Only rides to dialysis appointments are available at this time. Call 651-437-7134 for more information.

All other programs and services are suspended at this time, including clothing and household vouchers from Rivertown Treasures Thrift Store, which is closed until further notice.

The Hastings Family Service Donation Center is Closed Until Further Notice

Donations are limited to monetary gifts, food, personal care items, and brown paper grocery bags at this time.  See below for more information and call 651-437-7134 to set up a drop-off appointment.  Rivertown Treasures is unable to accept clothing and household donations at this time.  Please do not drop items at the doors or in the alley.

How Can I Help?

  • The best way for the community to help at this time is through a monetary gift. With the postponement of the Hastings Tastings event and the closure of Rivertown Treasures, we expect to face a significant shortfall at a time we are anticipating an increase in demand. Financial gifts allow HFS to increase purchases from Second Harvest Heartland and local distributors as we strive to meet the needs at this time. MN FoodShare has been extended through April 30, 2020, so all monetary and food donations will be proportionately matched in both March and April. The link above will take you directly to HFS's secure online donation site.

  • The link above will take you to our list of most needed items. Again, MN FoodShare has been extended until April 30, 2020, so every pound of food will be proportionately matched in both March and April. Please call 651-437-7134 to set up a donation drop off appointment. Please do not leave food or personal care items at the doors or in the alley.

  • Brown Paper Grocery Bags

The Market Food Shelf uses about 1600 brown paper grocery bags every month and we are running low. A container is available outside of the Donation Center doors (directly across from the post office) during business hours for drop off. Please only put brown paper grocery bags in the provided container. For after hours drop off options, please call 651-437-7134.

  • At this time, HFS does not have an immediate need for additional volunteers. We are collecting names of individuals who are willing to volunteer, should our need increase during the COVID-19 pandemic. Please visit the volunteer page linked above to fill out a form.
