Donation Center

Hastings Family Service COVID-19 Response

The HFS building is not open to the public and the Donation Center and Rivertown Treasures Thrift Store are closed until further notice.  Clothing and household vouchers have been suspended until further notice.  

Due to the demand and space needs of the food shelf, Rivertown Treasures can not accept clothing or household donations until further notice

Donations of monetary gifts, food, personal care items, and brown paper grocery bags are accepted anytime during business hours.  See the HFS COVID-19 Response page for more information and call 651-437-7134 to set up a drop-off appointment Monday - Friday.   Please do not drop items at the doors or in the alley. 

The Hastings Family Service Donation Center is happy to assist you in donating food, funds, and clothing and household items to support the programs and services of Hastings Family Service.

Donation Center Hours and Location

The HFS Donation Center is located at 301 Second Street E in Downtown Hastings. 

The HFS Donation Center remains closed to the public at this time. 

Donation Guidelines for Clothing and Household Items

While Rivertown Treasures is currently unable to accept clothing and household donations, please keep the following guidelines in mind if you are saving items to donate at a later date:

Rivertown Treasures is happy to accept new and gently used clothing and household items that are clean and in reusable condition (no stains, tears, broken or missing parts/pieces, or items that are not working properly). 

For the safety of our volunteers, whenever possible, please pack donations in kitchen-sized garbage bags or boxes that can easily be lifted by one person. 

Rivertown Treasures is unable to accept some of the following items:

Baby Equipment Clean, reusable clothing and shoes; children's toys, books, and puzzles Car seats, car booster seats, high chairs, booster and floor seats, swings, other large equipment, teething toys, bottles
Electronics Small household appliances that are clean and working, such as: crockpots, blenders, mixers, fans, toasters, coffee makers, microwaves, vacuums, calculators, battery operated toys, small tools VCRs, DVD players, modems, printers, computers, televisions, radios, anything broken or not working
Medical Equipment Walkers with seats, folding walkers, canes diabetic testing supplies, breast pumps, items that require a doctor's order or prescription
Furniture Lamps, framed art, household decor items Large furniture items such as: couches, beds, tables, and chairs
Books Fiction, nonfiction, children's books Encyclopedias, dictionaries, textbooks

Some items may be accepted on a case by case basis as space permits with final approval by the store manager. 

Every year during the month of December, household and clothing donations are limited due to space needs for Project Share.
